My old garage floor jack used to do that (go 'flat' after several pumps and/or sag down under load)... every spring after sitting in a cold garage all winter. When I'd open the bleed valve it would spit a little air and fluid and then work fine until the next spring ...that went on for more than a dozen years ...never figured out why since it was always 'full.'

The hoist will be used mostly for loading and unloading heavy stuff in my truck... I can use my lift at the shop to load stuff like the snow blower and power washer but had no way of getting them off at home... Better than ramps imo... It will probably work great for my hammock chair too!!

First job will be lifting my compressor to remove the pallet and put the rubber feet on...

You may need a extension on the end.

Carnut

I had a very similar hoist. It worked great for getting engines, transmissions etc in and out of a pick up bed.

68fastback
12-19-2015, 07:10 PM
I was wondering the same thing for getting my generator into the Ranger. Had been using ramps but it's a beatch pulling 250-300# up them with a rope since only has two wheels.

Guess it also matters how high the tailgate is ...my Ranger is low compared to recent full-size p/ups but the genset is fairly tall vs a trans, etc.
I was considering getting a basic chain hoist but nothing I'd trust in the garage structure to attach it to ...that would not require reinforcement.

Stacey, approximately how high will that engine hoist lift? Genset has a built-in lift bar and eyelet so I could hook it directly or use a very short chain.

onecrazydog
12-19-2015, 07:44 PM
