After 3 yrs and 9mo. I have decided to install the pulley and tune that has been sitting on the shelf for about a year. Wife is getting it for me for fathers day and my birthday since they are so close together.
Going on Tuesday the 15th I will post photos and a quick video of the install.

Very cool Art!
Tell Drew and Shaun I said hello! Those guys are top notch up there. Have fun and take some pics.

...are you sure you want to do this Art ??? :doh2:
:rofl3:No.
I was going to keep it stock but since they are as common here as a chevy I may as well make it my own.
I will probably do the suspension next. Thanks Robert I talked to Drew yesterday he said with some race gas you might hit 700 at the tires

Yep that is why its been sitting on the shelf.
When Joker did his car I went to see It was great nice clean shop Shawn was very professional and took good care of his car. I was talking about putting mine on and was telling him about having to heat up the pully to put it on the car he was laughing so hard. I said its in the instructions He said we dont heat up pulleys to put them on. we will see.
It was funny though.
I think I am going to put it back to stock and get a base line to see the improvement.

the 2.6 pulley is usually worth about 30 rwhp.....unless timing is also added over the stock setting then it would be more....

Well I was at 682 on pump so I bet I would be real close just adding some race gas and throwing some timing at it.

Don't tempt me! Some friends have been asking when I'm going to put that and headers on it!

Make sure you run race gas before bumping up that timing. Remember the pinging last time when you were running at 19 degrees on 91 octane!

I was going to install the 10% OD Balancer but Shaun convinced me not to running 91 octane. Premature valve guide wear and failure. I'm going to try out Justin's Big Elbow Plenum and see now close to 700 I can get. Justin claims I should see a big increase over the L&M plenum. I'll probably have to port match the blower again though. I'm also putting on a AFCO dual fan HE and a short shifter.

The BVM store can get you the VMP elbow as well as the Afco dual fan HE.
And yes, you'll need to port again if you use the big plenum. It's an odd-shaped "D" vs. the oval of the L&M.
BTW - L&M is coming out with a larger plenum too if you wanted to wait.

California gas sucks! That's the only reason that I haven't gone to the IW pulley also. Shaun says I'm at the safe limit on 91 and possibly pushing it some. I'm sure your in the same boat as we are just a few HP apart.
Are you running the L&M plenum now? What other mods do you have? Just curious as we are so close and seem to be using the same guys.
AED definately rocks!

Thanks Joe, but I've already purchased the VMP Plenum and AFCO HE. I'm just saving my pennies to buy the FFRP Short Shifter and Knob/Handle before I head down to AED to have it all installed.

We have almost the same exact setup except Shaun ran you on the dyno at 19 degrees advanced timing versus 18 for me. He confused my car for yours when I asked him about the 10% OD Balancer. I had to tell him we never ran my car at 19 degrees and I never had a ping issue. He recommended bronze valve guides if I planned to run any higher boost than 15 PSI on 91 octane. But if I changed out the valve guides I may as well build a bullet proof pump gas monster at that point. With only slightly over 7,000 miles I think I'll wait on that project. Here's what I have installed:
TVS Supercharger
FRPP CAI
Metco 2.6 Pulley/Idler Kit
KB Dual BAP
L&M High Flow Plenum
L&M 66mm Throttle Body
Ported Supercharger Inlet
CJ MAF
80lb Injectors
3.73 Gears
DSS Aluminum Driveshaft
Borla Stinger Catback Exhaust
FRPP Front Strut Tower Brace
BMR HPP003 Level 2 Suspension Kit
BMR CAP002 Level 2 Control Arm Kit

Are you still allowed to fart in Kalifornia or do you now need AQMD permission.

I got my tune from JLT. can my tuner guy make changes to the tune in the tuner?

Not in the tuner that I'm aware of. Would have to adj tables in the hard file, then upload the edited tune into the tuner. Datalogging is key.

He can probably make some minor adjustments with the tuner. Most tuners lock the tune and will not let anyone else see what they have done.
He should be able to adjust some spark advance, fuel and other minor tweaks if needed.

Thanks guys Tuesday is just around the corner.
I hope they have a oven by now He He
I changet the plugs to the ngk's and i cant believe the condition of the stock ones. I found oil up around the seal.
I am going to take them to AED so they can get a read on them. I also found a red powder like substance on the #4 plug boot. I wonder what that is. I also found a couple of plugs that weren't as tight as the others
Still ran good just curious about it.

Well here is my #
First run the fuel curve was a little out of spec. This is the second run. #'s got worse on run 3 and 4 sorry no print out.
Pulley came off and went on like butter.
Wow what a difference in power. I have better throttle response than before. I can even upshift to 5th and car pulls better. Used to have to go to 4th.
Fuel mileage is about the same unless i stand on it hen forget it.
Drew at AED did a great job on my car.

No he didn't want to do it. But I asked how much at the crank and i figured just 500 when new and now 630 so a improvement of 130 with just CAI and Pulley I still have the stock exhaust on the car so I was impressed..
After grabbers experience with the Matco pulley I was scared to do it myself but the one I got went right on no problem.
It was kind of expensive though but happy with the results. Drew does outstanding work and is very meticulous
If anyone needs to go to a shop for tuning work AED is the place to in Norcal

There was a post by someone on one of the boards that had installed the Whipple 2.9L on with Fore Precision rails. My tech is checking with Whipple to validate. There could be a minor issue with the crossover fuel line in back since there's not a lot of room to work with and you actually need to slide the motor and tranny forward a bit to get it to install properly on the pre-2010 models I believe it is. Otherwise it hits the firewall.
Whoa, that's out of my leauge!!
Thank you for all the info you have posted!! I want to learn as much as I can about our cars!!

Yup, I am like that too... I do the minor mods and get the pro's to do the major ones...
I don't really like the idea of moving the motor and tranny... Seems like that would affect the exhaust and driveshaft too...
