All 2015-2017 GT350/GT350Rs Recalled for Oil Cooler Tube Replacement...

---

DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 26, 2016
– Ford Motor Company is issuing three safety recalls in North America. Details are as follows:

Ford issues safety recall for certain 2015-17 Ford Shelby GT350/R Mustang vehicles to replace engine oil cooler tube assembly
Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 8,000 2015-17 Ford Shelby GT350/R Mustang vehicles for potential oil leaks and to replace the engine oil cooler tube assembly. In affected vehicles, engine oil cooler tube assemblies may have insufficient crimps on the hose that could lead to a hose separation and an oil leak. Sudden loss of engine oil may result in engine failure, and – in the presence of an ignition source – could lead to a fire.

Ford is not aware of any fires, accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

Affected vehicles include certain 2015-17 Ford Shelby GT350/R Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Feb. 24, 2015 to Aug. 30, 2016. There are approximately 8,026 vehicles affected, including 6,523 in the United States, 957 in Canada 346 in Mexico and 59 in federalized territories.
Dealers will replace the engine oil cooler tube assembly at no cost to the customer.

Don't know but this could be a reason to delay production until the vendor supplying the replacement tube assembly can supply field replacement tube assemblies since that could (don't know) logically pre-empt GT350 manufacturing in the interim. And that could explain the 'fake' dealer stories going around that GT350 production is shut down until February 2017 for "tire issues" rather than risk an order cancellations due to buyer concern of defective units in/pending shipment. Who knows, but that'd be my hunch.

No one is immune. We had a recall for our Honda CRV

You don't have a F150 GT350 do you? :giggle:

I just put up a thread for 2016 F150 Recall announcements HERE (http://stangsunited.com/showthread.php?8765-Pending-2016-F-150-Safety-Recalls&p=353270#post353270).

Check it out, Dave, and maybe post up if it's one of those issues ...or something else you got the notice on.

I only went back to the beginning of 2016 tho.

Here's what I've been able to piece together on this...

GT350 recall was due to an "insufficiently crimped" oil cooler hose (called and oil tube in the recall).
Ford recalled over 8,000 units ...essentially every one made.
Ford stopped production and froze delivery of on-lot units from Flat Rock to dealers at the end of August.
Ford also put a freeze on all dealer sales of existing floor units and all test drives (both required under Federal Law for certain types of recalls)
Recall formally issued in October 2016 -- all owners advised against driving for any reason (also required under Federal Law for certain types of recalls)
As of Jan 2 2017 no owner has has been contacted by Ford to have a remedy applied and there is no TSB ETA.
Trade press has said, variously, TSB should be available end of January, or February 6th, or 1Q17 ...all unsubstantiated supposition as best as I can tell because Ford has said nothing re date.

Bill, does Tucker have an R or vanilla? If vanilla, does it have the track-pack? Do you know if Tucker is still using his on-track? Has he replaced the "hose" at all? Appreciate anything Tucker can share on what, if anything, he's noticed or knows about this ...just trying to sew together the pieces into something that makes sense as I'm having difficulty understanding why it's taking a vendor over 4 months to make enough replacements for Ford to even BEGIN scheduling the TSB ...something just doesn't seem right ...or possibly they're testing the crap out of the replacement but I would think a hose can be pressure/vibration/heat tested quite effectively, so I'm still skeptical this a simple hose-crimp problem as Ford told the press to set them straight only after they ran wild with speculation in the absence of any other information from Ford.

Anyhow, anyone with any info, much appreciated...
