Ford issues safety recall for certain 2016 Ford F-150 trucks in North America for multi-contour seat issue
Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 3,700 2016 Ford F-150 trucks equipped with multi-contour seats. If the multi-contour front passenger seat massage function is turned on and an adult is in that seat, the occupant classification system may incorrectly classify the adult as a child – suppressing the front passenger airbag and increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.
Affected vehicles include certain 2016 Ford F-150 trucks built at Dearborn Truck Plant from April 27, 2015 through Nov. 22, 2015. There are a total of 3,683 vehicles that might be affected in North America, including 2,894 in the United States and federalized territories, 286 in Canada and 503 in Mexico.
Dealers will update the occupant classification system module software – at no cost to the customer.

Ford issues safety compliance recall for certain 2016 Ford F-150 and 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles for inadequate driver seat back weld
Ford is issuing a safety compliance recall for approximately 7,000 2016 Ford F-150 and 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles. In certain vehicles, it is possible the driver seat back may have been improperly welded and may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.
Affected vehicles include certain 2016 Ford F-150 vehicles built at Dearborn Assembly Plant, Feb. 20, 2016 through Feb. 25, 2016, and Kansas City Assembly Plant, Feb. 17, 2016 through Feb. 24, 2016; and 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles built at Chicago Assembly Plant, Feb. 17, 2016 through March 7, 2016. There are 6,661 vehicles affected including 5,280 in the United States and federalized territories, 1,199 in Canada and 132 in Mexico.
Dealers will inspect and replace, if needed, the driver seat backrest frame at no cost to the customer.

No, actually I misspoke somewhat. It's not a recall, but a "field service action" 16B32.
Electronic Throttle Body may develop contamination and result in vehicle entering a low-speed mode and a CEL. All critical systems such as power brakes and steering will continue to work properly.

Hmmm... I wonder how contamination gets in the TB. Maybe the PCV baffle is not right or something like that -- has to be something simple.
Hopefully it's not a filter box sealing problem or something like that.
On our '09 Fusion it's a beatch to get all three hook-hinges on the air box 'hinge' side to properly reengage after opening, so I always do it when the engine is hot (plastic more flexible) and completely remove the TB tube clamp and housing to make twisting the air-box lid hooks to engage the hinge easier. But apparently NO ONE ELSE DOES IT RIGHT. After five times and five miss-fittings by places that inisist on inspecting the air filter  (including two by Ford), I now have a small RED on BLACK sign on the air box that says "DO NOT OPEN FOR ANY REASON!" ...now they just feel compelled to ask why ...and one doofus opened it anyway insisting (when I chewed his azz out) he MUST check -- after driving to his bosses office, he no longer works there -argh!! Pi$$es me off big time because it allows unfiltered air to get at the MAF, TB and enter the engine! ...and the roads around here are not dust, dirt and grit free, esp in winter when they throw down grit+salt which turns into a cloud of powder  ...I get pi$$ed just thinking about it :rofl3:

Or at least air if Port Injection? Well, air can get dirty, even after a filter. Or backflow could be an issue.

Yeah, but it's a new truck (2016?) so probably not a dirty air issue ...probably still has original air filter.
If the PCV baffle isn't right it can suck oil in with the crankcase-recirc air and coat the TB.
Or if dufi don't cap the air-box properly ...or forget to tighten the pre-MAF clamp ...or didn 't seat the PCV ...or recirc hose/clamp ...etc
(or post-MAF, which would be dreaded unmetered air :yikes:)
Probably lots of possibilities...

My GF got a letter from Ford, ( 16B23 ), they want to replace the T/B on her 2011 Edge.
She has never had any issues with it, but a new T/B on Ford's dime is OK with me !!

I'm afraid that first one will be on my truck. It has the massaging feature on both front seats.

Curious what the actual issue is, if you find out.

Just guessing, I'm sure the Massaging Feature effects the ability of the sensor to tell if it is a child or an adult in the front seat, therefore deactivating the airbag.
I'll let you know when I receive the notice.
