I haven't been posting this stuff in a while but the industry has been widely down this year.

That said, while 3Q Ford income and pre-tax profit is dramatically down, pre-tax profit is larger than income for the quarter and YTD (seems odd).

Balance sheet still looks good but 3Q was truly abysmal in most markets, including US/NA.

Here's the results. (https://media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North%20America/US/2016/10/01/3q-16_financial-rls.pdf)

People may be pissed at Ford for going to Mexico to build small cars.

 Maybe ...but at least Ford has not reduced US employment at all (they've honored there agreement not to do that) -- in fact they've US employment substantially ...but they're also doing the Mexico thing.

Trump like GM so it bother me when he says Ford ships jobs to Mexico out of context. Meanwhile GM is making Buicks in China and shipping them here but no one seems to notice that. If I were Ford I'd hurry and finish that plant :rofl3:

Hasn't Ford been making small cars in Mexico for YEARS?

Yeah, long time. They pulled quite a few jobs back to the US a couple years ago to meet their UAW commitment to expand US employment on an agreed schedule. They also pulled the Fusion back to Flat Rock (with Mustang) along with 1,200 jobs from Hermasillo [sp?] when they bought out Mazda's half-ownership. Not sure what exactly this alleged new 'mega-plant' in Mexico will be making ...maybe Fiestas (or Tortillas :haha:)?
