I was watching the latest "Hot Wheels" episode and Richard told the crew that Aaron wouldn't be able to finish the project with a few days left on the deadline due to "personal reasons". Since the episodes are recorded a few months ahead of time and I had a week or so delay I thought there might be an explanation as to what happened. Well, it sounds like he may have quit right in the middle of the build:

He also opened his own shop since 2011 but continued doing the Fast N' Loud show with Rawlings ...maybe he had enough of Richard's 'fire drills'? His net worth is $3M ...just like TG! :hiding: Rawlings is worth $8M.
While working for a garage in Texas, Richard Rawlings asked the garage owner to have his car worked on by the best mechanic in the shop. The owner recommended Aaron Kaufman. Richard Rawlings (http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-businessmen/business-executives/richard-rawlings-net-worth/) was so impressed that when he opened his own hot rod shop, he hired Kaufman. The two are featured on the popular reality television show, Fast N' Loud on the Discovery Channel. The show follows the day-to-day workings of Gas Monkey Garage, a garage dedicated to restoring classic cars that is based in Dallas, Texas. After working at Gas Monkey Garage for nearly 10 years, Kaufman opened his own Main Street Shop in 2011; he and Rawlings still appear on their Discovery Channel series.

The Outcome: On December 13th, 2016, Aaron announced that he had left Gas Monkey Garage. Although no exact reason is given for his departure, he made it quite clear that he did not leave because of reasons related to Family, personal health or any other reasons that might raise a red flag.

I wasn't impressed with Aaron. Seems like they had engine issues on everything that didn't have a GM or Ford crate motor.

I'd always thought that was due to Richard Rawlings forcing them to do as little as possible to the engine to flip the cars more cheaply and at light-speed, but who knows?
I hope Aaron does a high-end custom shop or something like that -- I think that's where his heart is. Also, since he seems to like Fords a bunch and his two faves are Cobras and '32 Fords I'm hoping he gets to do some nice builds for some bucks-up folks rather than the cheaper quick flips Gas Monkey seems to specialize in. That is, if he doesn't stay under the radar by design.

Saw that episode too and searched the web looking for an answer.
Not surprised he's leaving. Always saw him more as an artist and true mechanic vs. a "celebrity" like many of these reality car shows turn people in to.
From what I heard he was offered more ownership in the show, shop etc and turned it down wanting to be less a celebrity and more just a hard worker.

I've seen nothing from Discovery about the future of the show.

+1 ...I can see him doing a small creative automotive skunkworks ...maybe even heading toward the Riddler crowd eventually.

Oh, well ...I hope Aaron resurfaces with a successful operation of some sort ...surely his love is cars ...esp Fords!
