It appears what they found in Mexico was the second car, thought to be destroyed. The other car has been in the hands of the studio person that bought it right after filming was completed and its whereabouts have been known for some time (in the east coast I hear - McQueen tried to buy it many times.)

I figure the 5.0 GT with the 5.2 FRPP heads and retuned should be good for about another 35HP, if they go that route.
