View Full Version : Chromed Thermostat Housing - Trade Program

As some of you know I purchased a second thermostat housing and sent it in to be chromed. I would like to sell the one that is not chromed to someone and allow them to do the same. The thought is that if everyone did this then you would only have to be out the cost of chroming and your vehicle would only be down for a couple of hours tops. If anyone is interested post up. First come first serve, although I have to give MonkeyBoy first dibs as he mentioned earlier he was interested.

I will post up pics of the car before and after the install as well.

Here are some pics of the unchromed piece

that looks pretty sweet. What was the cost of the chroming? Any options on the chroming (black chrome etc)? Really looks sharp as heck. I'm interested, I just have no clue where the heck this goes.

Dans Polishing in Adamsville TN did the work. Call them and ask them about the black chrome and pricing. They have come highly recommended based on quality. Their website is http://danspolishingandchrome.com/

They want it completely disassembled (no biggie). They will polish it out and provide three layers of copper, nickel and chrome. Expected turn around time is 3-4 weeks.

I'll give them a buzz (unless Joe already has LOL). Since the one going to them would be the one coming off your's, would you disassemble it and deliver it to them for me (I'm assuming they're near you)?

That is the idea. Each person would dissasemble and ship to Dans with return shipment instructions. Dans will call the recipient to get payment on work and shipping.

Personally I don't like it unless there are other chrome parts to compliment it.

I don't have any other chrome under the hood so this would stand out like a sore thumb.

I'm not sure either, that's why I want to see pictures of it installed under the hood. :detective:

The coil covers should set it off nicely. :wtg:

Passed some emails with Danny.....................cost is $150 and black chrome is not an option (finishes are copper, nickel or bright silver chrome). I think for the time being, I'm gonna step out of line for this one so someone else that's ready can jump in. I may jump back on later.

I finally got around to installing this piece this weekend. I need better pics in the light to better show it off but this should give you an idea of the finished product. My housing is available now for purchase if anyone wants to buy it and do the same thing. I can ship directly to the chrome shop and it will be shipped back to you ready to be installed. The installation took about an hour and a half but could be shorter depending on your abilities.

Here is a pic before
http://i474.photobucket.com/albums/rr108/mrfarmdog/GT500%20Pics%20010310/100_6704.jpg

And here are some after the install.

Is polishing an option as opposed to Chrome?

I know this isn't Mrfarmdog's problem, but it looks like at least one person has had issues with these guys. :redcard:

Yes my stomach has been churning over this all day. I guess it just goes to show you that sometimes you just can't count on anything being consistent. I am trying to get in touch with them about this.

That's how it came back after he sent it in?? I was thinking something bad happened to the t-stat as a result of it. Nice quality control. Maybe they should handle all of SA's chroming needs.

Yeah, that's how it came back. Plus, he said it took over 2 months to get it back.

Hopefully it was just a one-time issue.
