Seems like LineX and the improved formula from Rhino Linings are the top choices for a spray-in bedliner.

Bullet Liner seems to be similar - from the guy who started LineX. http://bulletlinercincinnati.com/?gclid=CI6lnaD80tQCFcq2wAodrFUHuA

All offer Lifetime warranties which is good.

Anyone like or dislike one vs. the other?

I'm getting quotes from a few places. Dealer I'm looking at said they'd have their local place do it (LineX) at the dealer cost of $425 - not sure if that's good or not.

I did my last truck myself. Was about $85 :flex:

Yes, worked awesome. Never had to touch it up although you can.

I've read very mixed reviews. Some have had no problems like you. Some say even after proper prep (sanding etc) that they get areas that peel easily.

Says the one gallon should be enough for 2 coats on a 6.5' bed. Did you do 2 coats?

Tommy Gun

Yep, one just doesn't look quite good enough.

Our bed was 6.5 also.

Biggest time consumer is a quick wet sand to dull the finish a bit so it sticks good.

Can also wipe with some finish remover just before coating/rolling.

We've never dumped rock or dirt directly onto it because for one it's just messy. Usually throw a tarp down even though coated.

The coating just helps it last longer and keeps it good looking.

If you were seriously dumping rock into it a couple times a year I would do the rhino line type stuff.

I had Rhino Liner put on mine right after I got it (2004). It was a work truck for me, hauling rock, dirt, pallets of stone, and just about everything else. The liner is still intact, the only scrapes being on the top edge of the tail gate where lumber and ladders rubbed (I started putting a cusion). The only thing is that it has faded. It's hard to tell when, but I'd guess it had faded to where it is in 5 years or so, but has stayed the same since.

Have a Ford drop in liner in my 2007 Ranger, 10+ years. I'm happy with the way it's held up & ordered my 17 with one.

My truck had a drop in installed when I bought, I had the dealer remove it. I was concerned about water between the liner and bed and rust. I did the spray on instead and would (will) do it again.

I have had spray on liners on my last two trucks and love them

I've always had caps, so this was never an issue. Have a tonneau cover on order for the 17, water won't be an issue here either.

Liner installed last Friday. Great job by the dealership. Removed all the mounting bolts, tie downs etc before spraying.

Looking forward to testing it soon. :weg:

Pics later when re-download them to somewhere besides Photofuckit.

Deb's butt is going to have a rash on it. :nonono:

But at least she won't slide around.

Looks like mine. I like the fact that things don't slide around. However, a smooth plastic insert would make it easier to push out dirt/mulch with a broom or shovel or pitchfork.

Yeah... that's why I think I'm gonna borrow a trailer. Mulch/rock in the trailer - easier to unload, less chance to damage bed, and can handle more weight towing vs. hauling.

Be very careful when towing heavy loads if you haven't before (esp when wet out and esp in turns and with an empty bed (jack-knife potential) ...if you have the integrated Ford tow controller (I suspect Joe does?), it's easier to control the load but still have to be careful and anticipate traffic, road geometry and effective stopping distance issues. The biggest mistake folks make with newer comfy trucks when towing is forgetting they're still in a truck that's towing ...e.g. there is no such thing as an evasive maneuver with a truck that's towing. Must be driven always in anticipation of stable stopping (vs avoidance) -- very different default mind-set than a car and dramatically different in wet and in turns.

Anyhow, just mentioning...

Thanks for the reminder :tiphat2:

Do NOT have the Ford tow controller. :banghead:

Luckily both places (mulch and stone) are on relatively flat state highways and only about 10 minutes from the house. Still need to be careful, but won't be going too fast. I'll likely do partial loads at first to "get the hang of it".

Joe, could put tarp in the bed for the mulch (easier to shovel out and can 'roll' the remainder on the tarp back from the front right off the tailgate if tarp is long enough) AND put the stone in the trailer ...actually good to have the extra weight on the rear axle at the same time you're towing ...as long as within towing/GVWR limits. Less trips ...just a thought.

Two different places, in the opposite directions. :banghead:
