Tape is dead. Long live tape. They've been crying this mantra since the mid 80's.

We're not likely to see this in the consumer space. These are relegated to the monstrous data centers that power the cloud. I remember the data cylinder robots that IBM and Storage Tek made.

Yep, that is the main draw back, along with having to start the backup over when a glitch happens during the backup.
