yes pre-season is out...and actually we already know who each team plays (rotating cycle), but the dates are what I want to see so we can plan our two vacations. We're going to SanFran and Phoenix this year. I think the Raiders play a game in either Mexico or London also. :look:

Did you see it now?

Alloy Dave

Yes....

We are still contemplating...but we THINK....

Will go to SanFran/Oakland area about Oct 26th, watch Colts at Raiders Oct 28th (Sunday), stay the following week and sightsee, go to Sonoma...then attend Raiders at 49rs game in SanFran the following Thursday on TNF Nov 1st.

THen return home for about 2 weeks, then fly to Phoenix for Oakland at Arizona Cardinals game on Nov 18th...would probably go early or stay late and spend a few days in Sedona.

Will be going to Raiders at Bengals in Cincy Dec 16th...my brother has Bengals season tickets.

Terry wants to also go to the Miami game early in the season...but I'll already be seeing 4 games this year (we really wanted to go to Oakland one more time before they move...and doing it the way outlined above saves us an extra trip out there).

Expensive as he!! to travel in San Fran. :nonono: SOme hotels have an asterisk saying they add $35/night to your hotel bill to pay for employee benefits. :nonono: Thanks alot Obama.

Others include and "Urban Destination Fee". :nonono:

Restaurants are doing it too....

Look at the very bottom of this website:

looks my my annual Guy's Trip (entering year 23 if my math is correct) will be a Minnesota/Green Bay excursion. Maybe I'll get lucky and either the Twins or Brewers will make the playoffs (a Red Sox vs. Twins playoff game would be a nice add on to Vikings/Cardinals on Sunday followed by Packers/49ers (and JimmyG) on Monday Night Football). Only part that stinks is both the Gophers and the Badgers are away that weekend. Usually try to add in a major college game in addition to the NFL plans.

I bought the tickets for the Colts at Oakland and Oakland at 49ers. Still need to buy the Oakland at Cards tickets. Already have airfare bought, hotels reserved, and rental car...pretty much set to go for the San Fran trip other than picking out wineries lol . Mark, don't tell Teresa. :haha:

Now to start working on the other trip.

Dave, you might enjoy the CA wine train . (https://www.winetrain.com/)..the kids did it about 10 years ago and they said it was simply outstanding!

It's really odd you mention that...as I have been on a few web forums recently about Sonoma and nearly everyone on those forums says it's terrible. Maybe it's changed?

Dunno -- could be. Seems to still get 4.0 to 5.0 stars in the online reviews (https://www.bing.com/search?q=sonoma+wine+train+reviews&form=PRACE1&src=IE11TR&pc=EUPP_ACTE)

Syralgirl has some good suggestions. If you are going to be in or near Healdsburg (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g32482-Healdsburg_Sonoma_County_California-Vacations.html), Cyrus is worth a trip. The food is really great and it is a close second to FL at half the price. If you go do splurge on the tasting menu. They are really great there an allow subs. if a course just does not appeal to you or you have dietary restrictions.
The wine train is pure view. If you go do lunch and sit in the vista Dome. At night you really cannot see the wonderful views as it gets dark. The food is good not great and if you are going for the food save your $100+ fee per person and eat at one of the wonderful restaurants in the valley.

The Wine Train has its champions but I'm not one of them. There are so many excellent restaurants in Napa (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g32766-Napa_Napa_Valley_California-Vacations.html) and the Wine Train is more touristy than anything else.
Besides, for just a weekend, I don't see the reason to try to span Napa and Sonoma (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g33107-Sonoma_Sonoma_County_California-Vacations.html). If, as you indicate, you live in SF, you can do Napa next time.

Yes, the two cannot be compared. The wine train is a ride up the valley on a train with a meal. The tram tour has maybe 10 people and the driver tells you some history of the vineyards and what is growing and how they do it, followed by a tasting.
I, too, am not a fan of the wine train, but you may decide that it is the experience you are looking for.

But there are also some who liked it...

We did the wine train for 4th of July and it was superb. The food was amazing - up to wine country standards. We go to wine country frequenfly, The wine train has a variety of experiences such as wine train and visit a winery; or just wine train and meal; etc. . I would read the reviews son the wine train on trip advisor and then decide if its something you would like to do or not. The only caveat on the wine train - do it during daylight hours so you can see out; after dark, its not worth it. Summer as such is easy to do either lunch or dinner . Look on line for the different experiences they offer if still interested.

The thing about the wine train is that it is a total experience (not just dinner). We loved the wine social hour at the station. The wine shop there is awesome (surprised us that it was as good as it is). The dining cars were superb with excellent service. Food was stellar even though offerings were more limited than a restaurant menu. Then we retired to another car with even more comfortable seating for dessert. If you like chocolate cake or creme brulee - its very good. We enjoyed it with buying a glass of Prager Port.
The tram tour is different than the wine train. The tram tour at Benzinger is more an intimate look at the vineyards and at the caves.
They are as such complementary to each other and different enough to do both. its up to you which one you select to do, but both are an awesome combo. They are different enough.

Also, it appears the wine train is for Napa, not Sonoma valley. We already went to Napa about 10 years ago...so hoping to do Sonoma this time.

There's also the Sonoma Wine Train and Sonoma Wine Trolley (https://www.sonomavalleywinetrolley.com/sonoma-wine-train/)...depends what you're interested in. I've never done either.
