There was mention a while back about a TSB on front control arms?

Anyone know what exact parts are being replaced? Part numbers? :hiding:

I believe rob posted it. I think they replace the bushings. I have it on my computer at home, but I'm not there.

I had it done. They replace the entire control arm. The new one has a bigger bushing. Rob had posted it on SM, I bet it's over on TS since he probably hasn't posted it here.

Before I ban you for burning out my right eye w/ that sig, do you mean that this would only be covered under the 3 year part of the warranty and not the 5 year/60,000 mile?

Anyone have any pricing on these parts?

FORD:
2005-2010 Mustang ISSUE:

Some 2005-2010 Mustang 4.0L/4.6L, 2007-2010 Mustang Shelby GT500 vehicles built on or before 8/3/2009 may exhibit a grunt/creak/squeak/chirp noise from the lower control arm hydro bushing. The grunt/creak noise may occur over large vertical bumps like speed bumps and pot holes. The squeak/chirp noise may occur over bumps rough roads, and driveway approaches.
ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE

Use chassis ears on the lower control arm hydro bushing bracket tabs to verify noise is coming from the hydro bushing.

If the noise is confirmed, then proceed to Step 2.
If the noise is not confirmed, then this procedure does not apply. Proceed with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics.

Late production lower control arms were equipped with a 0.75" (19 mm) ball joint shaft and improved hydro bushing. Early production vehicles used an 0.71" (18 mm) ball joint shafts. Using a suitable caliper measure the ball joint shaft.

If the measurement is 0.75" (19 mm) this procedure does not apply and follow normal diagnostics in WSM Section 100-04.
If the ball joint shaft measures 0.71" (18 mm) an improved service lower control arm with improved hydro bushing is available. Follow WSM section 204-01 to replace.

Rob do you think you could post that same information over here as well. Not everyone here has an account at TS.

The base up here is 3 years (at least for my '07 it is), not sure if yours is the same time period or not

I'll have prices in the morning on the parts. Problem is the nuts and bolts require (if I change them) they are packaged 3-4 in a pack and may have to buy the whole pack. As you know factory nuts and bolts can be $5-$10 each, so i may not go that route if I can't get them individually. We'll see.

I think it's time for a sig change VK.

Last time I inquired on these LCA part numbers at Silver State Ford, they came up as

AR3Z3078A - Front LCA - GT500 Right 2010
AR3Z3079A - Front LCA - GT500 Left 2010

Silver State Ford parts listed them for $171.21 each and Tousley listed them for $159.87.

I still have some extra bolts.

Also, all the noise did not go away.

I still hear something when I back out at an angle down a driveway.

May just be how the bushing flexes.

It's the only time I hear it and it's pretty insignificant.

Front end clunks on potholes and when turning up my driveway... Nothing major but figured may as well take advantage of the offering and put the stronger part on!! I just asked the dealership to check it when they were putting the fuel rails on and they said yup, it needs them!! I have a really good tech... Same guy, Dan, always works on my car... He's just a little rough with strut bars!! Lol...

Did you have an alignment done after? Squealing upon turns MIGHT be caused by excessive toe out/in.

My guess, to your question, is "yes".

You need a good dealership... I just mentioned the tsb to mine and they ordered the parts and put them on!! Then sent ford the bill on the labour I would imagine... I also get them to install the parts I change and always ask if it will affect the warranty...
