200 pounds lighter (extensive use of HSS), yet bigger, more spacious inside and quicker too.

2.0L EB carries over. 1.5L EB gets dynamic cylinder deactivation (14ms).
Two different hybrid power-trains (conventional-hybrid and plug-hybrid) with 4 distinct EV modes -- what many HEV buyers have been asking for -- with 30 miles and up to 85 mph when on electric only.

"1" Auto-EV is the traditional HEV mode.
"2" EV-Now let's you go to 100% electric whenever you want
"3" EV-Later lets you drive only on gas now and save electric for later (could be really handy for stealth off-road wildlife watching!)
"4" EV-Charge mode lets you drive on gas only while recharging battery for later use (or whenever you like).

I noticed that this new Escape gets new suspension all around and rear independent subcarrier ...which' along with the HSS chassis, would be perfect to accommodate the added weight of a long-range electric hybrid Escape's battery (in a year or two?).

575 watt Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker sound system is also available. They even now publish multiple distance specs from seats to rear liftgate.

Only thing they went BACKARDS on is road clearance ...about 2" less!!! :doh2: ...needed to be about 2" MORE!!(Ford, look at a Subaru AWD!!)

I just rented an Escape last weekend while I was in Pittsburgh. It was better looking than the previous version, the cargo area was good for suitcases but the back seats didn't fold flat with the back section, they were about 3" higher. Plenty of room in the rear seats for someone my size. Still don't like the large A pillars!!! Power was plenty. Handling was good. Dash is still a bit awkward in it's layout.

My friend has a 2013 2.0L EB Titanium ...it's nice but ride is a little nervous/active - decent handling though. You probably rented a 2019 which is a redesigned prior-gen. My friend's rear seats also don't go completely flat and I noticed in the vids of the all-new 2020 they still don't go all the way flat -doh. The dash is all-new in the '20 so maybe they finally got that right -- it does look a lot better in the pics/vids.
