Thought this might be a useful thread...

Norton is telling all customers to immediately apply iOS 14.4 to their devices to fix critical vulnerabilities -- I did yesterday (saw no look-and-feel changes)...

---

Update to iOS 14.4 immediately to address critical vulnerabilities

What is happening?
Apple released iOS 14.4 for iPhones and iPadOS 14.4 for iPads to address three critical vulnerabilities in its mobile operating systems that may already be actively targeted by hackers. The vulnerabilities target the kernel, the core of iOS, and WebKit, the web browser engine behind Safari.

You can read about the specifics of the vulnerabilities on Apple's Support (https://secure.norton.com/pub/cc?_ri_=X0Gzc2X%3DAQpglLjHJlTQGlg7HCUqSWzbky9glc4G XLt7zbdKgn0ze3XCsmA3mnWzfEneRneDzdlqyVXtpKX%3DATUC BYWT&_ei_=Eq2tf9zs59idfPO1Sc_9BblpY3T4mG9boOmKdTfvdnH7R 32FWW7FQ6inde82rt3hAfIGo4vRqr93IMVstFku1yd9Nb7K__b EWA3PR0ppdfeTA5gcJnMT0WLMUctRg2HfQ5QI6-O9Ji2Tfgyi.&_di_=su51cdd72csiso4nksav61ti4c0ek74r7sfeq9ui6u7uo cnamuc0) site.

What should I do about it?
If you have any of the following iOS or iPadOS devices:

iPhone 6s and later
iPad Air 2 and later
iPad Mini 4 and later
iPod Touch (7th generation)

You should update your operating system to iOS 14.4 or iPadOS 14.4 immediately by following Apple’s instructions for iPhones (https://secure.norton.com/pub/cc?_ri_=X0Gzc2X%3DAQpglLjHJlTQGlg7HCUqSWzbky9glc4G XLt7zbdKgn0ze3XCsmA3mnWzfEneRneDzdlqyVXtpKX%3DATUC BYAT&_ei_=Eq2tf9zs59idfPO1Sc_9BblpY3T4mG9boOmKdTfvdnH7R 32FWW7FQ6inde82rt3hAfIGo4vRqr93IMVstFku1yd9Nb7K__b EWA3PR0ppdfeTA5gcJnMT0WLMUctRg2HfQ5QI6-O9Ji2Tfgyi.&_di_=fmlhrstod1f7l98gu2olhn1f71p7v1k84om7j9tnfcau1 1iu4l20) and iPads (https://secure.norton.com/pub/cc?_ri_=X0Gzc2X%3DAQpglLjHJlTQGlg7HCUqSWzbky9glc4G XLt7zbdKgn0ze3XCsmA3mnWzfEneRneDzdlqyVXtpKX%3DATUC BYCT&_ei_=Eq2tf9zs59idfPO1Sc_9BblpY3T4mG9boOmKdTfvdnH7R 32FWW7FQ6inde82rt3hAfIGo4vRqr93IMVstFku1yd9Nb7K__b EWA3PR0ppdfeTA5gcJnMT0WLMUctRg2HfQ5QI6-O9Ji2Tfgyi.&_di_=0u77hqeaihtql9mh5dj7fprgt96e5las04t0euhbcffh9 5p10u80).

On 1 Jan. 2021, Comcast stopped offering Norton security as part of their subscription package.
I went with PC Matic, they offer a " lifetime " package which covers (5) computers for $ 150.00.
So far I like the change, ad blocker included, & all my computers are running faster..

Centurylink stopped using Norton too. They substituted McAfee. I just went with the Windows virus detector built into Windows 10. The Win7 systems picked up another Windows virus. The Win7 systems are dedicated use so not too worried and we're very careful about the others. We had Norton for probably close to 20 years in various types and styles and it never triggered anything so our usage patterns are pretty safe.

I think the divorce from Norton started when they switched from being a serious software company and linked up with this lifelock scam. Now they combine the two and it's a crock. They won't exist in a few years.

Norton still is top rated for day-0 attacks.

I tried McAfee for a few years because first year was free with Dell but after getting hit twice I went back to Norton and haven’t had any problems. I don’t do the LifeLock part. They include some basic LifeLock if you want it (dark web monitoring) but it’s extra for the million dollar BS but I don’t like that to get any of it you’d have to let them share your critical info with too many foreign entities. I can understand why but the Ts & Cs were too troubling as far as I was concerned.

I always pride myself in carrying a virus or two. The 2nd wife wasn't that impress. Just saying.
