Pops - an affectionate term for my father. Sorry should have used a term known to all not just me. :doh2:

No need to apologize I was just curious of the meaning. I'm glad you still have a "Pop" to celebrate with I lost my Pop 23 years ago. I sure wish he was still here with us.

If the weathers good Fathers Day morning I will take a long cruise in the Shelby with the top down and stop by the cemetery and visit my father. In the afternoon we will have a cookout at my house with the kids and a few relatives. Thanks for the idea, steaks, brats and :beerchug: sounds good.

You think so... but there's a double standard vs. Mothers Day.

Mothers Day - Dad and kids are supposed to wake up early and make breakfast in bed for Mom. Mom gets to sleep in, then Dad takes the kids for the day (because Mom gets to have her special day to herself as reward) while Mom gets her hair done, nails polished and a foot massage. Dad take everyone out to Mom's favorite restaurant for dinner, making sure to pay.

Fathers Day - Mom and kids wake Dad up early because it's his special day. Dad gets the reward of making breakfast with the kids - because it's a "fun thing to do". Mom goes out on her own, while Dad gets to celebrate the day by spending all day with his lovely kids - because you know Dad's never get to spend time with kids and this is special for him. Dad has to wait in line at the butchers to get some meat for dinner, then gets the fun of standing in front of the BBQ for an hour grilling, while everyone else is in the house with the AC on.

Enjoy your first Fathers Day, Monkey.

Every situation is different depending on the age/interest/sex of your children. Each one of mine likes to do different activities with me. They don't really care what the activity is as long as your spending time with them and showing interest in what they are doing. I'm sure you know this better than I do, my kids are only 2, 4 & 6.

That is so untrue. My dad worked a lot when I was a kid. He says he doesn't remember spending time with us.. But I have some of the best memories with my dad. It is not the quantity but the quality that counts here.

Unfortunately, due the funeral tomorrow...not sure it's the right time to give to him...I'll make the call when I'm with him Friday.

We started Saturday morning with 70 - 80 mph straight line winds. Lost half my tree in my front lawn. It tore the roofs of several other homes and buildings in my neighborhood.

Just what I wanted to spend my Saturday on. Cleaning up.

It's about time to call it quits and find a good source for cold beer.

Too bad about the trees Tim.

There is an excellent source of cold beer near Pittsburgh next weekend.

....nothing so dramatic...........its still about 70-80 miles out from what I can tell...........probably more of a flood issue with all the rain we have had lately.......some streams around here are notorious for catching folks off guard......6-8 inches of fast water can take a car away, but many drivers don't quite grasp that. And when it is basement time, we have it made here........we vaulted under our garage when we built the house because there was a bit of fill where the garage was to go....so 1100 sq ft of vault with 9 foot ceilings.....and the vault ceiling/garage floor....supported by 3 major I beams and 7 tons of steel on 4" centers and 50 tons of concrete.....I think a semi could land on it without any issues.......but hopefully no trying it out tonight.

Father's Day is without a doubt one of my favorite days of the year.

Last year my youngest boy Colin (CWB) had an event at his daycare the Friday before Father's Day for Dads to come and make Ice Cream Sundaes with their kids.

After the Sundaes the teachers asked all the Dads to sit down because our children had a surprise for us that they had made.

I took a picture when I got mine. I melted. It is one of my favorite pictures of my littlest guy.

I am glad the Cat and Joe G are ok.
My Fathers Day was outstanding. First wife cooked breakfast not me. Then it was time to open presents. I serenely didn't need them but they were very nice.
I got some new CD sneakers. A new Hawaiian shirt I love them they make me look thin. I also got a cooler with a place to put my Ipod with some speakers
Then took the car out for a ride. We were going down the freeway and I was driving easy got on the freeway easy just out for a putt.
then the wife says how fast will it go in 3rd. I said I don't know. So I still just driving cool then we took a exit to another highway and the road was clear so the wife said ler her rip so I got on it in 4th and man did that car take off. what a fun ride. I don't know why it took so long for me to do this. You guys with the TVS must be incredible. I cant imagine how that must be.

We are still a British Commonwealth nation and therefore our ultimate Head of State is The Queen and she is on some of our currency, she graces a few notes and coins, most notes bear an image of one of our Prime Ministers, no different the US notes honouring past Presidents. FYI, The Queen is also on some of our stamps and there is a portrait of The Queen in Hockey Arenas.
