Question Dan
How much input did Carroll Shelby have in building the 07 through 09 GT500.
I'm in a discussion on the GT500 site and they don't think Shelby did anything it was all SVT
I know you would know.
Thanks Dan

He certainly had courtesy oversight and Ford has said he made suggestions and did some ‘test’ drives. Licensing and using his name was part of the deal and Ford wanted him to be happy with the car AND from a marketing perspective the car had to be ‘injected’ with sufficient Shelby ‘cred’ — but as far as actual development it was all Ford SVT.

He had input on the 05-06 ford gt too.
In both I got the feeling from Camilo that Shelby's part was influence and blessing more than actual improvements

Good analogy: Ol' Shel was like the carved figurehead on the front of the old sailing ships ;-)
He was one of my heroes and an truly amazing driver and force of nature in his day -- before all the medical and financial problems (caused by bad management0. I'm so glad Ford threw him a bluebird financial net so his organization could work their way out of the staggering debt and lawsuits. They screwed up almost everything Ford laid at their feet but they still got the job done if often over a year late (e.g. '08500KR, etc.). But most importantly, I think, because it was Ford that, by far, has had the most real, strongest, most durable mutual ties to Shelby over many decades and as he commented on several occasions to the effect: I will go to the grave with Ford -- and he did.
God bless -- RIP CS.

In the very early days of Microsoft word before the spell checker was tied to typing you had to highlight the word or phrase and invoke the checker. If you asked the spell checker to check the phrase "spell checker" it corrected it to "spill chicken" As I recall the first incarnation of it was word on the Mac

Later there was MS WORD’s “assistant” — a kitty cat that appeared when you’d invoked it and it would briefly and sinuously wander around the top of the document. Lol
