I just finished installing a very cool Mod on the interior of my GT500. This Head rest is not a cover. It’s a factory fresh take off from all the KR’s that were upfitted in LV. The quality of the stitching on the leather is 1st class. You know how picky I am…and I must say, these are perfect !!!

Mine arrived in a very well backed box full of peanuts.

These Headrests are very Cool! Check out the quality of the stitching and the Carroll Shelby signature !!!

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x53/Grabrrr/Headrests/031.jpg

They were very simple to install. Push the headrest button in while poking a small blunt prong into the small hole on the headrest base and it pulls right off.

Then the new ones simply push right into the holes and your done. It took under 5 minutes to install these. I’m very pleased with the look that these give my interior. Now I even notice the Cobra under my headrests!!! Before they just blended in with all that black leather. It gives my interior some color that it desperately needed.

His website had this "official License" emblem on it and it was not official. I sure hope he gets things worked out soon so others that want one of these can get one.

But see, I disagree..............removing the thread likely draws as much, if not more, attention. Her post in the thread was succinct and to the point............why even post that if you're going to delete the thread. Not really a question, more rhetorical in nature. I already know the answer.

I agree with you. It would of been nice to of left the thread open to see how things worked out. I know that this vendor is working very hard to work the bugs out of the license requirements. I have a feeling that eventually.....this product will be available for all to buy.

Pretty naive ( or dumb or stupid, don't know which) of him to believe that he could put a "official licensed merchandise" logo on his site, link to it on the Shelby site, and not expect to get caught like a baboon grabbing a piece of candy in a jar. Especially knowing that the trademark police are extremely observant.

Nice looking product. Hope he can get all the necessary paperwork to make it legit.

I don't know what his experience is with licensing, but he is about to get introduced to a new world of quarterly royalty reports, marketing/ad spend reports, production approval process, royalty payments and a whole load of BS.

LOL.. Some of you guys are funny.

Basically we had a LICENSED deal, hence the LICENSED logo in the thread pic through DAA, which is a Shelby Licensee. We tried to go direct but Shelby said too many vendors in this spot, and declined us. As you'll notice on our site we sell almost all the same/similiar products as Shelby store from the same manufactuer, minus the Shelby Logos, at a reduced price. It's not over yet, we are looking into become a manufacturer for DAA, which will allow either DAA or Shelby to sell the items in their prospective store. Just not enough lawyers to read the fine print of all these contracts! Stayed tuned..along with some hot new products coming out. GT500 verison is still available, FOR NOW.

A) No. Only businesses that are retailers in automotive parts qualify to buy direct.

Probably because he's the mfgr/wholesaler. Not everyone wants to sell parts direct to the consumer.

Lots less paperwork to be wholesale. No sales tax to keep track of for one. Usually some volume or repeat business involved too. Get so select your customers. Less return hassle dealing business to business rather than retail.

I don't have a problem with a guy trying to make a buck as long as the product hes selling is quality. I really don't care if he has a license or not, SAI and the old SPP has a license and they sold a lot of $hit products.

As you know I have a set of head rests made by Cognology motorsports on my car that has the signature of Carroll Shelby embroidered onto the face of the GT500 logo. From what I understand, both of those logos have restrictions on just anyone using them to make a buck. I was given this product to help market them here in the Pacific NW to drum up some business for Cognology and give the product some exposure. I was assured that a license was in place. In fact I was told it took months to get worked out.

I was contacted by Shelby American after I started showing off these headrests on the TS site and told that there was no license for this product and that the thread was going to be closed. I was told that no license would be granted either. The reason being that there is already interior suppliers that have licenses making interior products with a license agreement and they did not feel it was needed to add another one. I was also told that I now have a very unique item. The design that Cognology has for these headrests is very nice and I think they would sell well if another licensed vendor would get the product approved by SA to sell them. On the other hand, any licensed interior vendor can produce these and sell them for a better profit margin so I'm not sure that will happen.

I guess we will have to just wait this out and see what happens.

Well I for one will not pile on Chris as he gave me the first set on this forum and he even hand delivered them to me.. Chris is very passionate about his product and IMO they are top quality and have an extremely unique look and is better quality than half the crap that the great sai Shelby company sells etc.. Personally I'm getting a little sick of the kool aid drinking Shelby chest pumpers that exist on other forums... I don't think Chris made that much of a quick buck and if he did so be it.... It's not like he was screwing people over... He offered a unique and great product of which I am very happy with and always makes people look twice... It's too bad they still can not he offered as allot of others will miss out on a great item...

2 weeks ago I had a talk with both parties trying to help get them together. I was able to hook each of them up with their contact info so they can set up a meeting or phone call. I explained to Shelby (Robert) that the product would be very popular. Shelby already does headrests and also has a interior supplier. Robert has been at the MCA event in WA state all week, so I think next week we will know more.

Did I say anyone was.... I believe I was speaking for myself was I not? Did I miss something where I accused anyone of piling on? Some have questioned some ethics and business practices etc not so much here but on other forums that I visit but don't post at all... A generalized statement where one speaks for himself as I did above does not imply or suggest anyone is guilty of wrong doing yet rather states his own personal belief and unwillingness to kick a man who has Not done him as an individual any wrong thus in my case and personal dealings with chris. So to answer your question who is piling on. I guess no one here has, but it still does not change my statement...

I understand now.

Sometimes typed words are hard to fully understand on a forum.

Chris is a good guy. One of us car guys, but with a passion to make some cool products. He hit a home run with this design and is stuck on first base. That is unfortunate.

Hopefully his product comes to a store near you soon.

The current status is we cannot sell direct and our

If you want some special like orfs design that can be done.

Our new store will be reopening shortly minus

I just noticed that Gary Disney no longer sells Headrests and since he supplies TS with the product, they don't have them for sale either. It's been like that for months now. However TS still shows them in their new catolog, but I know the real reason they are no longer available because DAA does not have the headrests. When the product first came out, the new core headrest was available at Ford for under $100 for the set.Now I'm told they are over $100 each now. By the time you have the stitching done, the headrest set is worth about 300 bucks to make any money on it, and then you have to ship them. Not many people want a set of headrests at that price....unless you are a die hard and know what the quality looks like.

Rob,
The head rest that TS sells are $hit. I originally bought a set from TS thinking they would be the same quality at Garys console cover but they weren't. The red thread they used was some shade of purple, the embroidery was crooked and uneven and it bunched up the leather, they were terrible quality. I returned them for a refund. I talked with Gary and he told me that the ones TS is selling aren't his. The only ones Gary sells are the ones that come with the interior packages.

so it would seem that SAI hasn't learned a thing about the importance of a quality product and how it (or lack thereof) affects their image.....

Gary has a website and he sells his stuff thru 3 vendors. One of them is TS. Gary has no problem doing custom work for anyone, but you must buy the stuff thru his vendors. Gary calls the customers to go over the order to make sure he understands it before he makes the product.

I just ordered the full consol (not a cover) from the TS site. I got a 15% discouunt for being a member. Non members can get a discount of 10%. The sale is from today to the 23rd of Dec.

TS cut a PO to Gary via e-mail as soon as my order was placed. Gary just called me about the order to confirm the colors. He is now in the process of getting it made. Mine will be exactly like Alans, but in Orange stitch on the logo and seams. Gary was very nice to deal with on the phone and so was Tim at TS.

I saved $44 dollars on the sale. With shipping the order total is $274.

Edit. Here is the Link to Garys stuff:
