Interesting they’ve rebranded their Sonoco 260 as a new race gas. I really like that they’ve imbedded oxygen content (most likely with a methanol compound) so that, in effect, the stoichiometric ratio is preserved or is at least tune friendly — smart!!

Back in the day old Sunoco 260 was just their top premium gas and was favored by many even though their base gas was all the same — the only difference being how much lead got blended in based on grade you selected. Back then Amoco Super Premium was favored by many beacause it was lead-free. But the serious grudge racers at the infamous Connecting Highway in Queens NY would go to the general aviation terminal at LaGuardia airport and tank up on av gas and crank up the spark timing. Ah. Those were fun days!!

The article mentions a web site you can find the high octane products. I haven't yet (but will later) but I'd wager many of them are either airports or marinas...

Only places remotely close to us that have always had a race fuel option has been Sunoco. One place about 15 miles away, the other about 30 miles away. All the gas at VIR is from Sunoco as well.
