I really wanted The Phillies to win so the team with the MOST HR's in baseball http://www.customized-jersey.com/mlbteams/logos/bluejays.gif could gain some ground on the Yankees in the AL East.

“I don’t know why we’re not hitting as well as we can,” Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. “Winning is hard — way harder than people think it is.”

Halladay hadn't given up a homer to a lefty all season and two lefties went deep for the Yankees.
The rest of the AL East can fight over the wild card. The Yankees will win the division.
The Yankees will win the division.
They should. The players get $1.27M per game.
Every game.
All 162 of 'em.

Not to pour salt in the wound, but shouldn't you worry about gaining ground on the Red Sox first?
American League
EAST W L PCT GB HOME ROAD RS RA DIFF STRK L10
Tampa Bay 41 23 .641 - 18-15 23-8 343 240 +103 Won 1 5-5
NY Yankees 41 23 .641 - 23-7 18-16 363 255 +108 Won 4 7-3
Boston 38 28 .576 4 21-15 17-13 359 308 +51 Won 1 6-4
Toronto 35 31 .530 7 17-14 18-17 313 294 +19 Lost 1 3-7
Baltimore 18 47 .277 23.5 11-21 7-26 211 342 -131 Won 1 3-7
Oh, yes, I know. The Sox are in 3rd place behind Tampa and NY. But, given how horrendous they have played (Ortiz's awful April, Ellsbury being on the DL most of the last two months, Pedroia being mediocre and the pitching staff still pitching like spring trainiing for the first month of the year), I'll take 4 games out of first at this point. PS, whoda thunk that the best starter on the team would be Buchholz at this point?

But, therein lies the fact that you still have to catch the Sox before you get to the Yanks/Rays. Denial is futile. BTW, what happened to Hill/Lind? Batting .197 and .211 respectively after .286 and .305 last year. One-time wonders? :sofa:

They shouldn't have gone to Ortiz's batting school in the off season.
They are young players and will come around, Unsavory Sox fan's like yourself, have to worry about a team with an average age of 59, the ol'Buzzards that make up the core will be spent by the end of July.

If I take it, I go from the North Linthicum station. Then there's a train every 15 minutes from the park.
If I drive, we'll park off of Conway street. There is usually plenty of parking unless the Yankees, Red Sox or Cubs are in town.

No one survives a 162 game season without a little bit of luck and no team will ever go 162-0.
I will take every bit of luck I can get
The AL East is consistant in one factor, brutal competition. Sorry for the Canadians in attendance, but that conmpetition is between New York and Boston. Both teams have had injuries issues, Boston a bit more than New York so far and the Jays should feel thankfull. If both teams were healthy, the Jays would get pounded.
Three months to go in the season and we shall see what happens. My money is on my Yanks if anyone has a wager in mind.........

I see the orioles have picked up 2 games on the blue jays in the last 10 for 4th place. :haha:
Ps: looks lime the jays have now officially given up more runs than they've scored on the season. That's tough. Has that team batting average dropped below .240?

Burnett is running at an IQ of around 80, he was a complete TWAT in Toronto and without the guidance and tutelage of Halladay would probably be in the Minors by now.
He's one BLUE JAY we are glad is gone.

For sure Roy had a bad outing, but his record speaks for itself and with a little more run support it would be even better. Actually, I don't recall a no-hitter from an overpaid Yankee Pitcher this season. :shades:
I do recall a recent meltdown from the Mental Midget, AJ BURNETT though. :shades:
How is Pettitte doing too Birdy? Without those regular needles in the AZZ from Roger, he doesn't seem as durable.

The Koolaid warning was in reply to your claim of him being "the best pitcher in the world"
If you watched the game you woul have known that Pettitte made a diving catch to get an out in the 1st inning and probably injured himself then.

We're talkin' starters not closers Birdy, but for closers there is absolutely no debate, Rivera is the best ever. Period.
FYI
Here is Jeter's quote:
Derek Jeter was quoted as saying, “He never throws a ball over the middle of the plate,” Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter said. “He goes corner-to-corner as good as any pitcher in the game. I’ve said it before, he’s probably the best starter in baseball.”
