Tired of screwing around. Need a vacation. Wife says you talk about Vegas let’s go to freaking Vegas. So a month and a half out can we get good deals from Norfolk. But when are the best times that it’s not crazy hot but nice enough to go? I’ve been at SEMA but that’s too much for her. A nice hotel, not too much walking, safe..ish…area, light gambling, Fremont one cool night…not really into shows…. Do we just work it or is there a plan….

I get that you might not be into shows, but in Vegas they literally design the interior of a building to suit the act. Based on that I highly recommend seeing the Blue Man Group, if they are still a thing there.

I've only been about 3 times...not the best person to ask. Seems all the hotels are expensive unless you're a high roller and they comp you. Pays to be in the "middle" of the strip to minimize walking....avoid the Excalibur and other places in that area...it's near the end. IMO Fremont street is NOT the place to stay, it's outdated.

For SEMA I stayed at what I think was one end of the strip by MGM. It was just under $100 a night which I thought was pretty cheap but was a really nice place.

Consider staying off strip. Silverton or South Point are at the south end of LV blvd. In the middle of the blvd but west are places like the Orleans. Right off the strip east a couple of blocks is Ellis Island. Places like this will have cheaper room rates. (Look in the area where Ellis is, there are several.) Those places are only a couple of blocks from the strip if you want to walk it some night. Everyplace charges for parking now. It used to be that everyone got 3 or 4 hours free but now only locals, so if you drive and stop on the strip but are not a guest at that hotel you'll pay about $20. We used to stay at the Monte Carlo because it was about mid-point of the strip. Go north a bit and Treasure Island is another anchor point.
Room rates VARY A LOT!!! And booking a 100 a night rate on Tuesday doesn't get you that rate the rest of the week!!! Every night can be different and the weekend rates the highest. And then if big things - like F1 or Superbowl - are happening room rates will be ridiculous everywhere.
Way off the strip can be nice. Station Casinos has lots of hotel/casinos in the valley. We used to go to Green Valley because it was close to us. It's their upper end place. Red Rocks on the west side has rates almost like the strip but it's an upper end facility. They just opened a new place called The Durango that might have good rates but again you'll be fairly off the strip if that is where you want to go.

Thanks. Thinking we would want to be near the strip to walk the least to a few places. Probably Uber to further places like Fremont Street one night for the experience. Was different going last time w three other guys and watching each others backs. lol
Dave had a good link for places to look at.
