Yeah, I just confirmed. Most of my forum stuff is written using my laptop since it's much more efficient with a real keyboard :)

(See, the old character cell smiley up there).

Some software offers to convert it to a graphic. I see the thing on the ribbon but I'm too lazy to use it :)

My Android cell phone recognizes the :) and offers to replace it with a smiley (and whole bunches of other words, like I just typed cat tornado and fish and it brought up pics for all of them :) But like I said, I use a real keyboard most of the time.
