7) No, I used frozen wings and made a sauce, let them soak for 4 hours, and baked. Started with a frozen pizza but added oregano, black olives, and pepperoncini...so it wasn't take out.
8) I have a commercial account at Lowes, but not the other stores. I get most of my stuff from Lowes. The nearest HD is 40 minutes away. At Lowes I have a "MyLowes" card that tracks all purchases so I never need a receipt, and I do get a % discount and put a PO name on each purchase.

Washed the front half of the F150 today and waxed it. Too much work to do the entire truck in one day. Will finish the other half later this week. Also cleaned the interior and did inside windows.

I had to restore my Fire HD 10 tablet after the first one fell and broke the power connector. After it restored I noticed I had I had a book - Fail Safe - that I had downloaded ages ago and never read. So I started it a few nights ago. It's a pretty dark story and the movie is worth a watch because the film making is outstanding. Then a few weeks ago Dr. Strangelove was on Turner Classic Movies and I'm at a lull so I'm watching Strangelove this afternoon. The intro mentions the names of the characters:
Merkin Muffley
Buck Turgidson
Jack D Ripper
Bat Guano
It has Slim Pickens as Major "King" Kong in his best acting role ever.
I mentioned this film a little bit ago as having the song made " We'll Meet Again" by Vera Lynn.

lol ...wonder what he's checking...

The 1403 printer changed high-speed line printing forever -- a high-speed workhorse from late 50s(?)/early 60s and through the 70s -- and with amazing print quality too not surpassed until the advent of laser printing well into the 70s.

Well, today was not good. Went down to the wetland to check on the beaver dam since a hurricane dumping 6.0" of rain is headed here tomorrow. The dam is huge! ...and thicker (width wise) than ever before by a factor of 2 or 3. Well, NanaJan decided she'd come down and spend the afternoon with me so I took the truck so she would not have to walk back (her knees are not so good). It's a very nice 'Zen' place to sit and watch/listen to wildlife down there too. So the grasses on the old road and wetland dike are at least 5' tall so I reconnoitered on foot to make sure it wasn't too flooded and to see if there was a place I could stop where the cats on the truck would not start a fire.
Long story short, while backing down the dike road I had my eyes set on the wrong marker tree -- one 20' off the road and in the wetland ...when I felt we were going off the 'road' my instinct was to keep the momentum and turn the wheel sharply (I'm going backward) and get back on the gas to try to get back up on the 'road'. Unfortunately since I was misaligned to begin with, I quickly realized I was now 35' into the friggin' wetland! I might had a fighting chance if it wasn't for a giant tussock sedge hummock (maybe 3' x 4' x 3' high!) that I went over. In 5-6' tall dense grass there's no seeing anything, hence navigating backwards using my mirrors and my tree waymarks -- which I've done dozens of times.
Anyhow, this wasn't one of those times -lol- and I'm in a foot of muck, water, hummocks and [formerly -lol] tall grass So called my buddy with his 1000+ ft# torque F350 Scorpion dually crew cab. Walked back to the garage to gather up about 50' of Snatch-um Straps and meet him. Was easy-peasy once we got the dually down there(!!!) because it's HUGE and can't turn like my Ranger can. Anyhow, he pulled me right out so all's well that ends well. And once I removed the vine off that was wrapped around the driveshaft (it was making a racket!) and scraped a couple inches of mud, muck and grasses stuck to just about everything underneath (including the skid plates -- doh! -- thank goodness for skid plates!) all was well. Just needs a really good pressure washing now -lol Just cleaning it up a bit before putting her away I found out that stiff-bristled snow brushes work fairly well to get into most places and wedge out and brush the crap away. Dunno know how, but there was a lot of much that got into the gap between the bed and the cab! How the heck I don't know. And, of course, rocking it trying to get it out got mud and muck jammed in everywhere else underneath
I really need to replace the 4WD sequencer electronics so I have 4WD again, though not sure that would have gotten me out this time
Oh well, like I said, all's well that ends well.

The frame I snapped (with my S10 camera) was part of the sequence after the base commander demands the impounding of all radios on the base. The printer opens for a fault condition of some kind (I recall they could be configured to do so on mainframes) and the Sellers character finds a transistor radio and turns it on and it's playing regular stuff. The base commander had everyone believing the country was under siege and the base would be attacked at any moment (they were, by US troops to get the rogue). Part of it includes Sellers (after the commander has committed suicide) trying to call the president which he must do on a civilian phone and Sellers gets a regular army guy to break into a Coke machine to get change. "You'll have to explain to Coca Cola..."
The 1403 is still used in some applications... We had one on our IBM 1130. It had to be used through some fancy channel adapter that also attached our faster disk drives. The channel adapter cost almost as much as the 1130 CPU box. Still, in 1968 the 1130 at under $100K was a milestone. DEC and DG started their minicomputer businesses in earnest about that same time.
Cheers.

thanks Tony. I only vaguely remember that scene.
I remember when I started with big blue in ‘66 the 1403 was a magic machine. It could really spit paper! It was a jaw-dropper for many customers the first time they saw it. And it printed forms like checks and such so fast they were a blur. We had six or eight of them in our print pool and kept a person busy feeding them boxes of paper. Amazing machines!
