IMO Welding is the type of skill that most people can learn, but few can learn to do it very well. As Dan said, there is an art component to it. I took a welding class when I was about 18, and the guy who taught it did underwater welding on bridges. I cannot do much today in the way of welding...maybe a simple MIG weld if someone set the machine up for me lol.
