    Airbag recall

Ok, so I have not had either airbag replaced. I've tried, but they keep telling me they have airbags on order and none have come in. I have a few questions:

    1) Who of you have had theirs replaced?

    2) Did you get both driver and passenger replaced?

    3) Did you have a custom tune in your car? And if so, is it necessary to go back to stock tune prior to taking the car in for airbag issue? In other words, do they access the computer and if so, will they mess up my custom tune?

    Any input appreciated.

    Additional research...

My letter from July 2016 says:

15S21 is driver side, and parts are available

16S26 is passenger side, said parts not yet available and Ford will notify when they are...I have not received a notification yet that the passenger side parts are available

I've had driver side replaced.....mechanic said a 10 to 15 minute job, no impact on tune. Passenger side on backorder..........I think we should get 500 dollars, just like the honda owners just got......

This is still the status quo. Mustang and Ford GT are under the same schedule. The driver side has been available for a while, probably a year or so. Passenger side is still not available, and has been "next quarter" for the past 3 quarters, and the last I heard was "next quarter", towards the end of the year.

I am waiting to get both done at the same time.

My 2004 Dodge had the same recalls, and I got a letter early summer that the passenger side was available. I'd never gotten the notice on the driver side, probably because we were in the middle of moving, but the same letter said the driver side hadn't been done so I had both done at the same time. Dropped the truck off the night before and it was done by noon.

Don't get all stressed about having the dealer do it. The driver side is absolutely simple - two screws on the back side of the steering wheel. The biggest risk is that "plug covers" lose a tang when they are removed and have to be reordered. The passenger side on the Mustang does involve a little more, but anyone that has sent their air bag cover to Shelby American can attest that after doing it once it's about a 15 minute job. I did two and after figuring out the order of removal on the first one the second did only take about 15 minutes. The techs have done enough now that they know what they are doing.
    Cheers.

I had the driver's side replaced on my 11, which is a different part # than what is needed for the 14. Never got a recall notice for the passenger side bag.
Have gotten ( 2 ) letters & 6 or 7 reminders, ( driver's side only ), to bring my 14 in, my issue is the weather & 8 am appointments, can get one & not the other.
Had a recall notice on the 07 Ranger I just traded in, drivers side, was never contacted telling me the parts came in.
They do not plug into the OBDII port to do this work..

I got the letters for years about airbag replacement.

Just one more reason I sold the car. Lol

Current Stang has a recall on the door latch, keep forgetting to ask if dealer has parts in for it.

    Thanks everyone for input...appreciated.

I might go ahead and get my driver side done soon....about 60% of the time no one is in the passenger seat...and when they are (Terry1234) I'm driving 30 mph.

Exactly. There's one dealership about 15 minutes up the road from Goatsville, otherwise need to go to one of the larger dealers in Cincy. The smaller one is full of rednecks that I wouldn't trust with TG's Transit, and I don't know which dealer in Cincy is decent. Plus I'd need to take a half day vacation because I'm not leaving it there for some Dufus to take the Carnut GT test drive with the Black Vert.
