    New laptop

My almost 15 year old Thinkpad T540p started crashing again. I know x what it is - the wifi card suffers from heat rot and resets the net every hour or so but get frequent BSOD. The keyboard and trackpad arre worn through and the screen has burned in the task bar. It was a work horse like all thinkpads still are but it was getting windows rot sluggish having started with win7 then all those updates then to win10 with years of updates and finally win11 update. The problem with these is the registry gets fat and sluggish

    So I bought a new T1g. Amazing 4K display. 1tb ssd added a 2nd 1tb into 2nd slot.

    More later
    Cheers.

It takes a while to make the new one have thing set up like the old one. Display resolution is hard to get desktop icons in the same p l aces. Muscle memory says some things need to be in certain places.

Storage paradigm is way different. Old machine i used a hot swap hard drive for moving things between my picture machines but the new one completely eliminates anything SATA. I experimented today with some SD cards. Turns out they are actually almost as fast as SATA bay drive and I can get them to 2tb. SD isn't as fast on the picture machines but its bulk load and unload. The SD express cards on new one are essentially external NVMe drives so I can put the card in and its as fast as the ssds because they are SD express mode
    Cheers.

I bought a really nice high end one at Costco a few months ago with windows 11 and all the bells and whistles. It took a while to get used to.

MY laptop has bells but no whistles.

It does have a moon pie though.

Rarely use our laptop. Seems we always use our iPads now.

My laptop is my main computer. Sits on my kitchen table. 17" display. HP. Windows 10. Don't see any reason to upgrade to 11,

I use a Dell laptop as my main computer., it is running Windows 11. I have docking stations here, at the shop and one was in Pittsburgh. Each location has duel monitors with a keyboard and a mouse connected so all I have to do is plug the laptop into the docking station and I am good to go.
