SVT Lighted Sill Plates - BLUE

Well actually, I learned you could choose green, red, or blue with these sill plates which I'm told are for the 2010, 2011 model years. They were meant to be an extension of the ambient lighting feature but I have yet to run into a '10 / '11 owner who can verify this. I bought them new for $85 thinking they were the standard red lighted versions that come from Ford Racing but when I received them, the wiring looked nothing like the Ford offering. Instead there was a four-hole connector coming off the back of the plate. Experimenting with a 9-volt battery, I learned that one hole was the ground while the other three holes were power leads each representing the primary colors of green, red, and blue. Once I found blue, I tapped the wires and installed the sills. Very pleased with the end result.

Where did you pull the power to get this to work?

Awesome. Where does the power come from? Who did you purchase these though?

I got them from a seller on ebay about a year ago who bought them from some sort of Ford show he attended. The power is supplied from wiring under the passenger side A-pillar (power and ground). In fact, I used the wiring instructions for the Ford Racing plates. I was mistaken in my first post (since edited) when the hole that provides power is actually the ground. The power lead is what is plugged into the blue LED wire. The Ford Racing sills only have two wires, one ground and the other a power lead to light up the red logo. Again, I was told these were standard equipment on the '10 and up. Can anyone verify?

They've been a FRPP aftermarket item for a few years.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again more intelligently....

True. But the SVT version only came in red and I felt they were overpriced. When I saw these on ebay for $85, I jumped on it thinking they were the FRPP sills. I preferred blue lighting since that's the color of my car but at such a good price, I wouldn't mind settling for red. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered they could be setup to display blue.

I wonder if the four-pin connector exists on your sills? Any '11 owners out there had them off?

Gr8snkbite says he'll look into it and get back with you.
