Every Memorial Day and Veterans Day I am reminded of one of the finest pieces of journalism I've ever read (note 1). The article was published in the Rocky Mountain News - which was closed down - named "Final Salute". The article was later expanded into a book.
The images and the story both won Pulitzer prizes.
(Note 1) The Rocky also did the multi-week story of worst school bus crash titled "The Crossing".
